3 WAYS TO REBEL AGAINST OUR SMARTPHONE OVERLORDS

On Sunday, my phone died, and I found myself virtually twitching without my phone. I’ve gotten a lot more addicted in the last few months.

So I resolved to rebel!!!!!!

Here's what's helped me so far:

  1. Turned my smartphone into a landline. Imagine being an alcoholic and carrying a bottle of rum everywhere. First step would be to stop carrying around the bottle of rum lol. I didn’t need to buy a landline. I just dock my smartphone when you get home. Then I use it just when I have a real need.
  2. Meditated regularly. Fix the man, not the machine. I re-started meditating regularly again and it’s helped me choose silence instead of the phone more.
  3. Blocked apps and manage app limits with Opal. It’s so good! My brother’s been using it for months but I totally ignored his rec. I’ve been using it now this week and it’s killer for focusing during the workday. Their users save 1.23 hours daily.

I also logged off iMessage on my work laptop, turned off notifications for group chats, and muted just about everyone that isn’t immediate family or a romantic interest (lol)

Join the rebellion!

Also, I’m writing this in a bar. Isn’t that so cool! You don’t have to go to a bar to do bar things. You can also read or journal or write a blog post! And drink nonalcoholic beer.
