why i love my apple watch

I've had an Apple Watch for four months now—and I freaking love it!

I mostly use it for:

  • Date and time — duh but crucial to keep me from constantly checking my phone
  • Timers — it's so easy to set timers I actually do. I set timers all day to steep tea, cook, meditate, and time rest or stretch breaks at the gym.
  • Sleep tracking — seeing my sleep duration at a glance helps me stay aware of how much rest I'm getting. it's a big deal since I've noticed how much my sleep affects my mood and focus.
  • Step tracking — I check my steps throughout the day, and if I'm low, it motivates me to walk more.

The Apple Watch interface makes all of this smooth and intuitive—way easier than pulling out my phone or using other smartwatches I've tried.

My home screen: Timer, Steps (Pedometer++), Activity Rings, Battery, and Sleep. Usually, the sleep icon will show the sleep from the previous night, but it doesn't here since it's past midnight.

Originally, I didn't buy an Apple Watch for a few reasons:

  • I might not use it — I wasn’t sure if it would stick, but I use it daily (and love it) for the tasks above.
  • It might be unfashionable — I bought the watch with the Milanese loop, and I’ve actually gotten compliments on it. Sure, there are more beautiful watches, but the Apple Watch’s functionality and design make up for it.
  • Notifications might be distracting — Easy fix: turn them off! I only keep call notifications on.

If you’re on the fence, I’d say go for it—whether it’s an Apple Watch or another smartwatch. It’s been awesome 🤗

P.S. Other small but awesome features: workout tracking (I mostly use it to check how long I’ve been working out), heart rate zone monitoring while running, stand reminders, and checking messages.
